Try, Tri, Try again.....(or really anew)
Thank you, thank you for just even visiting my fundraising page! In a not-so-veiled masking of a midlife crisis I am looking to complete my first triathlon this September. And if I'm going to look foolish in a wetsuit at the Long Beach Island Sprint Triathlon, why not raise some money for a fantastic cause along the way.
Most of you know how close and important The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is to Kerrie and I, and it has been nothing short of a joy to be a donor, volunteer, camp counselor and I even still sit on one of the working committees. I'm constantly amazed at the people that work fulltime and volunteer at all the camp's functions, but honestly it's the courage and vitality the kids have that sticks with you.
Founded in 1988 by Paul Newman, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is a community dedicated to providing “a different kind of healing” to seriously ill children and their families through a variety of year-round programs. The Camp delivers fun, friendship and a healthy dose of mischief through its signature summer program and weekend sessions at the Camp facility in Ashford, Conn. as well as outreach programs in hospitals, clinics and communities across the Northeast - and - our new fundraising campaign for a second camp in Maryland will expand this reach. All services have always been and remain free of charge to kids and their families.
Please help me reach (or even exceed!) my goal. I have seen first hand what impact The Camp's "different kind of healing" can have on the children and families coping with serious illness. And I really thank you in advance for thinking about it.
