2019 TCS New York City Marathon
I have run along the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and the Mediterranean Sea. I have run around the Upper Twin Lake, The Big House, and the cobble stone streets of Sevilla. I have run past defenders chasing down the soccer ball, I have run from Noels ARC to the Shack to get my bead call bracelet counted during color war, and I have run wayyy too many sprints, figure 8’s, and campus loops on my hometown turf field in Scotch Plains. But, I have yet to run 26.2 miles, so here goes nothing!
Running has been a constant throughout every stage of my life, as has camp. I have spent 12 summers at Camp Wayne for Girls, the place that made me who I am today. Now I work for a camp - The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp - which serves children with serious illnesses through year-round programs, all free of charge. As a Hospital Outreach Specialist, I get paid to bring the magic of camp to children and their families in hospitals every single day!! (I know, I don’t believe it’s real most days either)!
I am choosing to run the New York City Marathon in honor of, and to raise funds for, the children I spend all my days with along with the other families who The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp serves. This is the most important cause to me— giving my favorite thing (camp) to the people who need it most. Please consider contributing to my efforts, and help me provide "a different kind of healing" to seriously ill children and their families. Trust me, every dollar makes a difference!
Please check with your employer to see if they offer matching gift opportunities for employee donations!
