The fourth annual Miss Q's CAMPQUEST Walk has gone virtual and I am participating! I will be choosing my favorite spot to walk/run on Saturday, October 3rd at 10 am as we raise much needed funds and awareness of The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp’s work to support children with life threatening illnesses.
An elementary teacher for 41 years, Miss Quitadamo spent 30 years working for the Worcester Public Schools. She shared her passion for Camp with many of her students and their families who became inspired to embark on various fundraisers and collected much needed items for Camp and the children that it serves.
Founded in 1988 by Paul Newman, The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp provides “a different kind of healing” to more than 20,000 seriously ill children and family members annually-all completely free of charge. For many of these children and families, Hole In The Wall provides multiple Camp experiences throughout the year at the facility in Ashford, Connecticut, in more than 40 hospitals (including Umass Hospital in Worcester) and clinics, directly in Camper homes and communities, and through other outreach activities across the Northeast.
While the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp programming has taken a different look this summer to ensure the safety of Campers and staff, it has risen to the challenge of delivering much needed hope, joy and support in different formats. Virtual sing-a-longs and story times, virtual Caregiver Cabin Chats, virtual Family Weekends, Camp Care packages, streaming activity videos and 1:1 Zoom bedside visits with hospital partners are just a few of the ways Camp has continued to spread much needed magic to children and families facing life threatening illnesses through COVID-19. We want to make sure this much needed support for seriously ill children and their families continues now and in the future.
Miss Quitadamo’s first “CAMPQUEST” took place in May 2017 and has raised more than $47,000 for Hole in the Wall. This year, the goal is to send 8 seriously ill children to Camp by raising $20,000!
Thank you in advance for helping me make a difference in the lives of these children!
