Running for Henry and all of The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp Kids!
I've committed to run the New York City Marathon on November 3rd to support The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp and the brave children they serve.
As you know, my son Henry has battled and beat leukemia twice. While this marathon, my first, is certain to be a significant challenge for me personally, it absolutely pales in comparison to what Henry and all of the children fighting these horrible illnesses have endured.
The Hole in the Wall Gang Team was on Henry’s side throughout his entire journey and helped ensure that childhood fun was a part of Henry’s experience no matter what serious challenges he was facing physically and emotionally throughout his treatments.
The Hole in the Wall Gang team brought camp fun to his bedside at Yale/NewHaven Hospital during his many months inpatient, entertained him for countless hours during chemo treatments, visited him at home during times of seclusion, and has given him the joyous week he spends at Camp in Ashford, CT each summer. The Hole in the Wall Gang helps kids put aside their worries and simply be kids – the way it should be.
The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is a truly remarkable organization and I remain in awe of how they continue to change the lives and outlook of the children they serve.
