The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is important to me for many reasons. As a schoolteacher, as part of character education, I always encouraged my students to look for heroes in their everyday lives and I often shared my heroes with them. In the fall of 2008, I shared with my sixth-grade students that one of my heroes, Paul Newman, had passed. I told them about The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp and how his philanthropy inspired me.
My students, and soon their families, then began a series of fundraisers to benefit Camp and the children it serves. After my retirement, I began organizing Miss Q's CAMPQUEST, an annual walk focused on raising awareness and funds for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. I was thrilled to be joined in this effort by so many former students and their families.
